John has thirty years experience of Operational Research including problem formulation, study execution and the development of new methods to tackle challenging problems. John has specialised in extending Operational Research techniques to deal with the more challenging human elements of problems. John has experience of using System Dynamics approaches both as problem structuring tools and as techniques for model building. He has extensive experience of the use of the Vensim model-building environment and has developed some very large simulations. He now uses system modelling approaches which concentrate upon a seamless transition from problem structuring through into model building, using mind-mapping, qualitative and quantitative systems approaches. This approach allows a continuity of approach from early problem-structuring efforts through to what can be potentially quite large and powerful simulations. John combines well-developed communication skills with both extensive technical knowledge and the ability to provide innovative solutions. He has worked on studies into a wide variety of areas, mostly within the Defence environment, including studies of Training and Simulation, Counter-Insurgency, CBRN Defence, Decision Making and Historical Analysis. He is a Fellow of the Operational Research Society (FORS) and has an SC security clearance.
