Jane has over 20 years’ experience in providing Operational Research (OR) solutions across a range of industries including retail, food and drink manufacturing, distribution, parcels delivery, healthcare, government and the third sector with a proven track record in delivering successful modelling projects. She is experienced in managing analytical teams, in providing training, and of working with a wide range of stakeholders in the public, private and third sectors. She is a first class data analyst with considerable experience in the design and analysis of surveys, modelling systems (including Monte Carlo simulation), analysis and modelling for business cases, and providing long term forecasts under a range of assumptions. From 1985 she worked as a lecturer and then Head of Department in Statistics and Operational Research at the University of Huddersfield where she specialised in logistics planning and carried out a series of logistical consultancy projects. In 2003 she joined the Government Operational Research Service where she ran internal consultancy teams which carried out projects both in the Department of Work and Pensions and across Government. Recently she became one of the two project leads for ORiTS, an initiative to bring OR expertise to the voluntary sector. She is a Fellow of both the OR Society and the Royal Statistical Society and is currently a Board member of the Operational Research Society. She has a particular interest in using her skills to improve the efficiency of large organisations with multiple aims and stakeholders.
